有子說：「一個君子會先把根本的事情做好，根本立穩了，人生的道理和做法自然就會長出來。」

原文：有子曰：「君子務本，本立而道生。」

英譯：The philosopher Yue said, "The superior man bends his attention to what is radical. That being established, all practical courses naturally grow up."

孔子說：「只會講好聽話、裝出討喜的表情，這種人，真正有愛心的很少啦。」

原文：子曰：「巧言令色，鮮矣仁！」

英譯：The Master said, "Fine words and an insinuating appearance are seldom associated with true virtue."

曾子說：「我每天都會用三件事來反省自己。」

原文：曾子曰：「吾日三省吾身。」

英譯：The philosopher Zeng said, "I daily examine myself on three points。"

 子夏說：「一個人如果能看重賢德的人，勝過看重外表美貌，侍奉父母又能盡全力去做。」

原文：子夏曰：「賢賢易色，事父母能竭其力。」

英譯：Zi Xia said, "If a man withdraws his mind from the love of beauty, and applies it as sincerely to the love of the virtuous."
